NeuConnect Project Update
January 12, 2018
The NeuConnect Consortium with its lead investor Meridiam, in conjunction with Greenage Power who are developing the NeuConnect project with Frontier Power, were delighted to receive the final Interim Project Approval (IPA) on 9th January. The detailed OFGEM decision re-affirms the ‘minded to position’ provided by OFGEM on 19 June 2017, which was open to public consultation.
The final IPA decision represents a major milestone in the project and a further significant step in creating the first electricity interconnector between Germany and the UK. The OFGEM decision underlines the benefits to both German and UK consumers in the development of this new electricity interconnector.
The NeuConnect Consortium will continue to progress the project in line with the OFGEM UK Cap & Floor Window 2 application and the detailed representations made to the relevant German Authorities.
David Inglis representing the NeuConnect Consortium commented that: ‘The IPA decision is a significant step forward in the development of this unique and exciting project to further support the energy needs of both German and UK consumers.’
